Some stories are found beyond our doors. Others are hidden within them. A sun-dappled morning in the courtyard, a lazy afternoon beside the pool, or a drink in the Lounge before dinner. Each space brings its own atmosphere, whether you’re gathering, unwinding, dining, or simply taking in your surroundings.
Courtyard restaurant
At the centre of the hotel, the courtyard garden feels worlds away from Church Street, despite being only steps from its energy. Mornings begin here over breakfast beneath the canopy, while evenings stretch over good conversation, food, and wine.
Heated pool and deck
Especially in summer, a hotel with a pool in Stellenbosch means there’s always somewhere cool and calm to come back to after a busy day out. Between wine farm visits, gallery walks and afternoons in town, the pool becomes a place to relax, read and refresh. Heated throughout the year, it’s just as inviting on cooler days.

Where it all began
In 1981, archaeological excavations during the restoration and extension of Oude Werf revealed parts of the original church foundations beneath the hotel, including early graves connected to the site’s earliest years in Stellenbosch. Take a peek beneath the kitchen and discover one of the earliest layers of Stellenbosch history, connecting today’s Oude Werf to the people who walked these grounds more than 300 years ago.
